Petrovietnam Chairman of BoD Nguyen Quoc Khanh accompanied the Prime Minister in the events.
The meeting took place in an atmosphere of friendship, trust and openness. Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc expressed his pleasure for the official visit to the Russian Federation, informed the main features of socio-economic situation in Vietnam during the past time; results of XIIth Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam; affirmed that Russia is an important strategic priority in the implementation of multilateralism and international integration policies of Vietnam. Leaders of the Party, State, Government of Vietnam will actively promote traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries in practical and efficient way.

President V. Putin congratulated Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc on being elected as Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam, praised the role of Vietnam in Southeast Asia; affirmed that Vietnam is one of the priorities of Russia's foreign policy in Asia - Pacific. President V.Putin was pleased to assess, in the context of fluctuations in the world and the region, the two countries’ cooperation in politics, economy - trade, security - defense, science - technology, education - training, culture, tourism... as well as at international forums during the past time has positively developed, met the needs and aspirations of the two peoples.
According to Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Vietnam is always ready to bridge Russian businesses to the markets in Southeast Asia generally and ASEAN in particular, especially in the context that Vietnam has signed and participated in many Free Trade Agreements with various countries and organizations.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc thanked President V. Putin for instructing Russia’s authorities to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese community in Russia to live, do business stably and in compliance with Russian laws. He hoped Russia would continue giving support to Vietnamese community.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and President Vladimir Putin exchanged views on the issues of international and regional concern. They agreed to continue close cooperation in multilateral fora such as the UN, APEC, ASEM, ASEAN... Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc congratulated the Russian Federation to host the ASEAN – Russia Summit, believed the Summit would be successful, bring ASEAN - Russia relation to new stage of development, and confirmed to further strengthen Vietnam - Russia cooperation in the framework of ASEAN - Russia.

Discussing about complicated developments in the East Sea recently, President V. Putin said Russia paid attention to the situation in Southeast Asia in general and the East Sea in particular. He affirmed that Russia was to resolve the disputes in the East Sea by peaceful means on the basis of respect for international law, primarily the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea 1982 (UNCLOS), full and effective implementation of the Declaration on the conduct of parties in the East Sea, in favor of ASEAN and China to jointly develop a Code of Conduct in the East Sea.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc conveyed the best regards and invitation of State President Tran Dai Quang to President V. Putin for the official visit to Vietnam and attendance at the APEC Summit 2017.
After the meeting, the two leaders witnessed the Ceremony to award Medal of Friendship of Vietnam to Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin and Medal of Friendship of Russia to PVN Chairman of BoD Nguyen Quoc Khanh.
Also in the afternoon of 19th May, at the forum "Towards economic cooperation of Russia - ASEAN: mechanisms, dynamics and means necessary for the development", Mr. Tu Thanh Nghia - General Director of Vietsovpetro had presentation on "Experience in oil and gas cooperation and prospects for promoting cooperation between Vietnam companies and partners from Russia and ASEAN countries".
Mr. Tu Thanh Nghia’s presentation in Russian was highly appreciated by the delegates because he was the sole foreigner who can made speech in Russian.
