PV GAS receives Labor Hero title |

On 3rd April 2016, at Thong Nhat Hall, Ho Chi Minh City, PetroVietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation (PV GAS) solemnly held a ceremony to receive the title of Labor Hero.
Attending the ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Deputy Prime Minister; Mr. Dinh La Thang, Secretary of the Party Committee of Ho Chi Minh City; Mr. Tran Tuan Anh, Vice Minister of Industry and Trade (MoIT) and representatives of the Party and the State, ministries, central and local agencies.
PVN was represented by Mr. Nguyen Quoc Khanh, Chairman of the Board of Directors (BoD) and leaders of the Party Committee, Trade Union, BoD, Executive Management Board, head of divisions and units under the Group.
PV GAS was presented by Mr. Le Nhu Linh, Chairman of BoD, Mr. Duong Manh Son, General Director and leaders of the Party Committee, Trade Union, BoD, Executive Management Board, head of divisions and units under the Corporation; representatives of consulates, partners, senior officials and excellent staff on behalf of more than 3,000 employees of PV GAS.

Over 25 years of establishment and development, PV GAS has made great and proud achievements, laid foundation for development of the gas industry in Vietnam, contributed to ensuring national energy and food security as well as socio-economic development, become the leading unit of PetroVietnam. It is the pride of PV GAS and also proof for a persistent way with efforts to overcome challenges in a quarter of changeling century.

PV GAS General Director Duong Manh Son asserted the honored title of Labor Hero is the State’s recognition for tremendous achievement strived and dedicated by PV GAS employees under the close direction and effective support of the Government, central and local sectors, partners and shareholders; especially MoIT and PVN. PV GAS honored 25 years of creation, flexibility and endurance of hardship of PV GAS leaders and employees. They are proof for the wisdom and will of Vietnam, striving to master a leading technology and demanding perfection, creating steady development with customers, partners and large multinational petroleum groups in the world.
By the right development direction in consecutive years, PV GAS has always over-fulfilled the plan entrusted by PetroVietnam, become one of the leading units of the Group and the outstanding name on stock exchange, significantly contributed to the State budget.
PV GAS is constantly among the top 10 highest corporate income taxpayers in Vietnam and top 500 largest enterprises in Vietnam voted by VNR. It is announced by Nikkei Asia Review magazine in the list of 50 most valuable companies in Southeast Asia; in the top 2,000 largest enterprises in 2014 and 2015 as well as on top of the list of "50 best listed companies of Vietnam in 2015" voted by Forbes.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Member of the Politburo, Deputy Prime Minister, on behalf of the Party and the State congratulated PV GAS on the occasion of the meaningful event. He also congratulated PetroVietnam for having one more member unit to be honored the title of Labor Hero by the Party and the State.
The Deputy Prime Minister said after three decades of renovation, Vietnam has made remarkable achievement on socio-economic development with enormous contribution of PetroVietnam in general and PV GAS in particular.
"It can be said that with the sound, timely decisions and consistent direction, especially the tireless efforts of the employees during the past 25 years, including the loss and sacrifice, you have built a strong corporation and become leading potential of the country and the region. The achievements show that Vietnam gas industry is developing and growing steadily and synchronously in the near future", emphasized the Deputy Prime Minister.
The Resolution No. 41-NQ/TW of the Politburo on "Oriented strategy for development of Vietnam oil and gas industry to 2025 and vision to 2035" has affirmed the gas industry as one of five key fields of the oil and gas industry with an aim to “build a complete and synchronized gas industry in all stages: production - collection - transportation - processing – export & import - reserves - distribution of gas products; gradually reduce gas used for electricity and fuel and enhance deep processing; investigate, seek market and build port warehouse infrastructure ready for importing gas and gas products from 2020; study plan to build the pipelines connecting areas and form national gas pipeline system”.
To achieve the goal as soon as possible, the Deputy Prime Minister suggested PVN and PV GAS to fulfill seven important tasks, i.e. concretizing direction of the Politburo, arranging appropriate resources for certain year and certain phase to ensure successful implementation for developed gas industry.
Promoting application of scientific and technological advancement to management, operation and processing to enhance economic efficiency, reduce costs and increase competitiveness; Proactively seeking and adequately investing in new energy sources and alternative products; Studying feasible solutions for pipeline system connecting regions; Focusing on safety, not only in the operation and processing but also in transportation, environment and safety for users; Paying attention to training and developing qualified workforce in accordance with the international standards.
In parallel with researching, developing production, and increasing profit, adequate attention should be paid to improving spiritual and cultural life of the employees and actively participating in social welfare programs of the Government.
The Deputy Prime Minister said that the tasks entrusted by the Party and Government for the oil & gas industry and PV GAS in the current period as well as in the future is difficult and full of responsibility. However, it is hoped that with the tradition of solidarity, proactivity, creativity and determination, PV GAS will succeed and maintain the leading role of Vietnam gas industry, continue the active contribution to national industrialization and modernization.

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Khanh - the Party Secretary and BoD Chairman of Petrovietnam and Mr. Le Nhu Linh - the Party Secretary, BoD Chairman of PV Gas thanked the Deputy Prime Minister for his affection and attention to the oil & gas industry and PV Gas. He promised that PVN and PV Gas would acquire all the directions of the Deputy Prime Minister, make every effort for emulation, creative labor, solidarity, overcome challenges to build a modern gas industry at the same level with the gas companies in the region and the world.

Currently, PV GAS is supplying gas for 30% to 35% of electricity production and 70% of fertilizer demand as well as maintaining about 70% market share of LPG in the country, serving the industries, transport and civil sectors. Every year, PV GAS provides an average contribution of 10% to PVN’s turnover and more than 2% of GDP, positive contribution to the State budget. PV GAS has provided over 102 billion m3 of dry gas, 10.5 million tons of liquefied natural gas and approximately 1.6 million tons of condensate. Total revenue is nearly 517 trillion dong and State budget contribution is 57 trillion don. Profit after tax is more than 83 trillion dong.

In order to meet increasing demand for gas in the country, PV GAS is actively preparing for investment of new projects such as Block B - O Mon gas project, White Lion project, and liquefied natural gas import (LNG)... to enhance the value of gas use and efficiently produce natural resources as well as ensure sustainable development of the country. |
